Infection often decides how a wound goes

Accurate diagnosis of infection

Is it in soft tissue or bone, and how deep? The direction of treatment depends on it.1

Rational antibiotic use

Avoiding unnecessary or inadequate antibiotics helps reduce resistance and relapse.1

A team when needed

Coordination with vascular surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery and endocrinology is recommended.2

The process

  1. Message and photo

Send a photo of the wound and a short note on WhatsApp. You can also use the form.

  2. Initial assessment

You are advised on how urgent it is and what the next step should be.

  3. Examination and plan

Wound, infection, circulation and blood sugar are assessed together.

Told you need an amputation?

You may want a second opinion before a decision is made. We can review your records and imaging together. A preliminary review does not replace an examination.

Frequently asked questions

Will a diabetic foot wound heal on its own?
Small, superficial wounds can heal with proper care, but nerve damage and poor circulation can let wounds deepen unnoticed. A wound that lasts more than two weeks, gets worse or shows signs of infection should be seen by a doctor.
Which doctor should I see?
Diabetic foot care is multidisciplinary. If infection is suspected, an infectious diseases specialist is one of the main entry points; vascular surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery and endocrinology join when needed.
Do I have to send a photo of the wound?
It is not mandatory, but it speeds up the assessment. Take it in good light, showing the whole wound and the surrounding skin.
Can I travel to Istanbul for an assessment?
Yes. We welcome international patients and can start with a remote preliminary discussion. See our guide to treatment in Istanbul.

Tell us about your situation

WhatsApp and phone are the same number. Where the wound is, how long it has been there and a photo are a good start.
