Approach

In a diabetic foot, blood sugar, circulation, nerve damage, infection and wound care must be considered together. The aim is to preserve the limb with appropriate, timely treatment. Even when an amputation is needed, timing and level matter, so a comprehensive assessment is recommended before a decision is made.
